"Mindfulness is not about making the wave stop. It's about learning how to surf."
Hi, I’m Bronwyn.
I’m an accredited Clinical Resource Therapy Trainer & Clinical Resource Therapist with Resource Therapy International, EMDR & AI-EMDR Therapist and Clinical Counsellor with PACFA. I arrived into the world of psychotherapy and counselling through a long history as an artist, producer and performer who merged into social work, youth work, community engagement and arts education. For over ten years I used the mediums of art, movement and drama to develop workshops, performances, trainings, counselling programs, festivals, and conferences innovating new approaches toward healing and growth. I worked with displaced communities, public and private schools, community centres, theatres, families, youth, women, young men, lgbttiqq2s, refugees, artists, health practitioners and survivors. As this work became increasingly more meaningful, I desired to move beyond my limitations and delve into the psychobiology of mind-body healing, human development, and the neurobiology of trauma through therapy work. I have since had the privilege of working with clients from all different walks of life and am deeply committed to the creation of safe, inclusive, compassionate therapy.
I have a Master of Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre and education and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I have completed Advanced Parts Clinical Resource Therapy Training and Clinical Resource Therapy Trainer Training with to receive certification as both. a practitioner and trainer. I have completed AI-EMDR Training with Dr Annabel McGoldrick (EMDR Insight) and AI-EMDR Advanced Training with Mark Brayne (EMDR Focus). I have completed comprehensive Level 1 & 2 EMDRAA-approved Training under EMDRAA Director and Deputy Chair, Dr Sarah Dominguez (The Wattle Centre) and Caroline Burrows. I am certified to ethically practice EMDR. I am currently completing my accreditation and consultancy requirements with EMDRAA. In addition to attachment-informed and standard protocols, my clinical practice is heavily informed by completing advanced training in EMDR 2.0 via the Enhancing Trauma Treatment Institute. I had the opporutnity to train directly under Dr Suzy Matthijssen in her specialized masterclass, 'Intensifying Trauma Treatment’. To support deep internal system healing, I am fully certified as both a Clinical Resource Therapy Therapist and an official Resource Therapy Trainer, having completed my advanced clinical ‘parts-work’ training and 'Train the Trainer' pathways directly under Senior International Trainer Tracy Lynch (Tracy Lynch Therapy). This highest level of qualification means I possess a profound, teaching-level mastery of parts-work dynamics, allowing us to safely navigate, resource, and transform your internal system during intensive trauma processing.
I am currently working exclusively in private practice psychotherapist with As You Are Psychotherapy & Counselling. I also offer Resource Therapy workshops & trainings and process groups for both practitioners and the public. I am a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and registered on the Australian Register for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (ARCAP). I am a member of the College of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Practices (CATSIHP). I practice with a clear adherence to the ethical guidelines of PACFA.
As a therapist and counsellor, I work comfortably with clients who bring an array of life experiences, concerns and needs. These clients are adolescents, adults, queer & trans people, non binary/gender diverse individuals, neurodivergent individuals, people with disabilities, people in alternate relationship or kink communities, sex workers, parents, partners and QPOC/BIPOC individuals. Some of the concerns I have engaged with include anxiety, PTSD, complex diagnoses, complex trauma, disordered eating, chronic pain, suicide ideation, depression, co-morbidity, childhood trauma, family of origin issues, dissociation, substance use, forced adoption, loss of a parent, grief, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse, life transitions, relationships, work stress, self esteem, coping, illness, identity and belonging.
As a practitioner, I feel that my own experiences of trauma, survival, healing, individual and group therapy, have given me deep empathy and respect for the healing process. It has also allowed me to understand how important the role of the therapist is as a result of sitting in the position of the client. I hold great respect and compassion for each of my clients and endeavour to establish a relationship wherein they are able to experience, express, embody, and empower the many stories their bodies hold.
